Being the CEO of his own corporation had plenty of perks. As well as some very boring times. Recently James had settled into New York City hoping the new scenery would pay off. That and Northern Lights required him to move around once in awhile. If he stayed in one place too long…. Well, everything would be lost. He could not afford to be caught on to, not when he was so close to expanding.
Sitting in the back of his limo with his chin in a hand while he glanced out the window at passing lights, his mind wandered in all directions. So many Fae. There were all kinds and types. They were so beautiful it always took his breath away. Over the years of course he had learned to conquer this overwhelming feeling each time he came across one. It would not due to simply stare and gasp uncontrollably at a random stranger on the street, now would it? What would that say about his image? Nothing good.
As soon as he had entered the city and saw the populace he felt as though he hit the jackpot. Luckily the dark tinted windows shielded him from the view of the street goers as he was sure he was gawking again. The men sitting with him were already aware of this minor issue he had and knew it was best not to say anything. Instead they simply looked at one another or out their own windows, only occasionally sparing James a glance. They had been in his employment for a very long time and knew the repercussions of falling from his favor. Three large human men with bodies thick of muscle and years of fighting experience. Three of his most trusted employees that he debated considering friends several different times. In the end though, they were only employees and it always fell back to money. Which he could really not blame them for. It always came down to money for James too.
The limo came to a slow halt and two of the men exited first. They stood at either side of the door as James emerged, the third man close behind him. James was tall, but these men were taller. It was obvious they were there for his protection. Smiling up at each one he nodded and they moved forward. There was a restaurant before them of basic standards. Purposely he did not choose a high quality business. It was better for pickings. Most of his supply was those struggling through life with no family. For females, he typically aimed for waitresses as they already had a skill set to offer his clients. It was the best ground for picking.
Entering the doorway, he knew he was out of place with the guards and knew eyes would be on him. Let them know that James North of North Industries was in town. He had offered much in the way of technology and invention to the world. Some knew him and some didn’t. What was important was that they would recognize him as a man of wealth. The hostess, a pretty young thing seated them almost instantly. It was painfully obvious she was human so he only regarded her with a smile and brief thank you. The entire time the men’s’ eyes darted around the room. Yes they sought out anything that would seem dangerous to James, but were also seeing if they spotted the prize they came for. As of the moment, James was merely in the sightseeing phase. After he gained enough visual subjects, he would act.
